In this work, we compared natural floodplain forests and monocultures of hybrid poplars in terms of undergrowth diversity. We used 106 phytocenological relevés. We obtained 17 of our records by phytocenological imaging according to the methodology of the Zurich-Montpellier School [1, 2] on the area of 400 m² during the vegetation season in 2018. We compared the differences in the representation of neophytes and diagnostic species using a paired t-test in the statistical program R-software (R Core development team 2012). The representation of diagnostic species and their cover tested by paired t-test were higher in natural floodplain forests. On the contrary, the values of the presence and cover of neophytes were lower in natural floodplain forests. The results point to the adverse impact of planting hybrid poplar monocultures on the diversity and invasion of the area and point to the need to change the approach in forestry.
